Turmeric. If it sprouts, then plant it.

Turmeric is being hailed as a wonder food. The active ingredient is curcumin which is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It has been used in Asian cooking forever and gives dishes their golden colour. It  may also be used as a dye.

Cairns Coconut Museum sells delicious, decadent Coconut Nectar & Turmeric which is to-die-for. It is produced by Jimalie Organic Coconut Products: Organic. Sustainable. Fair.

Turmeric, like ginger, forms a rhizome which is like an underground stem that grows horizontally close to the surface. It stores food for the plant so that when the plant dies back, the rhizome is able to produce new growth when the conditions are right.

And a shoot!

So plant it and it will grow into this.
